Tweaking load for success in back pain

At Everything’s Connected the principle of success is always on our mind especially regarding our lower back pain patients. As we watch our patients move, we provide tweaks to help our patients develop new movement solutions to tasks that they report as having difficulty with.

Most of our patients require help with problems around activities of daily living -things like walking, bending, reaching, lifting. Lower back pain is an issue that pops up quite a bit when climbing stairs. Below is a film of a patient attempting a step up on the right leg. As you can see she is unable to achieve the required frontal plane motion for success in the task.

 

Frequently we think of adding load to increase the difficulty of the task but sometimes we are able to assist the body to achieve the desired chain reaction through judicial placement of load as can be seen in the video below.
