Every Friday I get the chance to pop my bathers on and treat patients in the hydrotherapy pool located at Aqualink Box Hill. A large majority of our patients here at Everything’s Connected suffer from chronic conditions, with osteoarthritis, in particular, being a frequent problem we treat. Part of the beauty of working and moving in the water is it allows the body to have a break from gravity, which in itself can provide great relief to patients suffering from joint related injuries and conditions. The warm water of the hydrotherapy pool also provides a relieving effect on symptomatic tissues and is a bonus particularly on those cold winter mornings.
I always look forward to my morning Friday sessions in the pool. Being in the pool with my patients, providing both movement therapy as well as performing hands-on treatment where necessary is a great tool to have in an Osteopaths toolbox.
