Epsom Salts

One of my favourite things to do to wind down from a busy day in the Everything’s Connected clinic is to have an Epsom Salt bath. Epsom Salts, a common laundry aisle item, contains magnesium- sulphate crystals, which help restore mineral imbalances. You might have heard taking a magnesium supplement is helpful in relieving muscle tightness and cramps? Well, these crystals are perfect for just that and are a great and fast acting way to achieve relief as they absorb straight through the skin to the muscles. Magnesium also has a supportive role in our nervous system and therefore can be a helpful tool in reducing stress. So next time you’re suffering from some muscle tightness, recovering from a hard session at the gym or just want to treat yourself, pop 1.5- 2 cups of Epsom Salts in your bath.

Note: a very handy tip I received from a patient was to use the bath water on your garden when you’re done. My backyard has never looked better.
